Fun, Funny Race Signs to Inspire Your Favorite Runner Mom

I may still be considering — but never quite committing to — a half-marathon in spring 2019 but there’s one thing I know for sure: this reluctant runner does not have 26.2 consecutive miles in her.

Knowing that about myself, marathon runners have all my love and admiration for their strength, determination and pure grit.

The Chicago Marathon is upon us at last and I’ve watched my best running buddy in awe over the past 4 months as she has trained and pushed herself. She inspires me to push harder and run faster all the time — just to keep up with her.

As any runner knows, the best part of the race experience is the crowd: the energy and inspiration from family, friends, and random strangers is what has pushed me to run harder than ever even at my own little 5Ks and 10Ks.

One of my favorite parts as a dedicated race spectator is the creative signs among the crowd to cheer on their runners. Since I can’t be at the marathon tomorrow, I created this virtual collection of inspiration, curated specifically for #momlife.

Pick up a poster board, grab your favorite markers, and get to work on your homemade version of one of these funny or inspirational slogans — or just print out mine on whatever size paper you have available. It may not be as eye-catching on 8.5 x 11 printer paper but the sentiment behind it is what counts.

Fun, Funny Motivational Race Signs for Moms

1. Run Like a MOTHER. No explanation needed.

2. Be the Runner Your Kids Think You Are. To your kids, you’re Super-Mom no matter how fast you run. They are always watching, so give it your all and show them how to be #stronglikeMom.

3. Marathon Now, Margarita Later. That’s not just motivation — it’s a promise.

4. Moms Run the World. If this isn’t the truth, I don’t know what is. Get after it, girl. 26.2 miles got nothin’ on you.

5. Run Like Your Toddler Has a Sharpie. Thanks, FIT4MOM, for this on-point fitspo. I always go a little harder on fast feet or high knees when I hear this, and this slogan is guaranteed to bring a knowing smile to any mom who sees it.

6. One Bad Mother Runner. Because implied profanity is never more warranted than when long-distance running is involved.

7. Oh Look, A Race! Only moms will truly appreciate a good Disney reference on a marathon sign — and only runners will understand the obsession with races, race swag, and race medals.

8. Go All Out. For anyone who does Orange Theory as part of their training. That 1-minute All Out on a treadmill is how I imagine the end of a marathon must feel. (Hence why I’m not running a marathon.)

9. You Gave Birth X Times. Insert the appropriate number of kids and wave this one for some extra encouragement in the end stretch.

10. Rain Camouflages the Sweat. The weather tomorrow is less than optimal for running but this light-hearted spin helps frame it positively.

Good luck to everyone running! I’ll be waving my signs virtually and rooting for you every step.
