Valentine’s Day is my second favorite holiday (after Christmas). If you’ve been following along for awhile, several things about this shouldn’t surprise to you:
- I have a second favorite holiday in addition to a favorite holiday. In fact, I have multiple favorite holidays (I could probably rank my top 10, but there would be some HARD choices to be made.)
- Valentine’s Day ranks way up there because of its focus on pink, glittery hearts and chocolate. Pink, glitter, and chocolate fall on my favorite things list as well.
However, as a boy mom, my Valentine’s Day isn’t very pink and glittery. It’s usually more red and accented with semi-violent theme or characters. Such is #boymomlife and I’m embracing it.
Today, an easy Valentine for your elementary school-age boys: Minecraft-inspired. This one is a two-parter, so some cutting is required, but it’s a great opportunity for your school-ager to work on their scissor skills if you’re so inclined. (Note: I totally cut these out myself; I’m too OCD to let my 1st grader sloppily cut his Valentinues. #sorrynotsorry)

Supplies
- Minecraft printable valentines
- Medium-weight or heavyweight cardstock
- Holographic or metallic pencils (gold and silver are perfect for this! I got a multicolor pack of 12 at Dollar Tree)
- Scotch tape
- Scissors
- Hole punch (purple one linked! ;))
- Ribbon (gold or silver preferred – I used curling ribbon but any thin ribbon will work)
Instructions
Print the free printable, preferably onto cardstock. There are two pages per valentine, 4 valentines to a page (so you use 2 sheets of paper for 4 valentines).
Cut out Minecraft swords.
Use tape to affix swords to pencils.
Have your child sign the hearts.
Cut out the hearts.
Punch a hole in the heart and use ribbon to tie heart to pencil to the heart dangles from the sword.
Tada! You have “crafted” (see what I did there?) a really cute and allergy-friendly Minecraft-inspired valentine.
Have you started thinking about valentines yet? When do you start?
